That would be great, especially now that it has a built-in speaker. I
believe the reason they haven't been able to do this however may have
something to do with licensing issue with RC Systems, but not sure on that
point. It sure would be a great feature however.

I'm actually glad the new model will still be using doubletalk, I actually
like that speech, that and eloquence are probably my 2 favorites for fast
responsive speech. Of course, speech is very subjective, and everyone will
have a favorite speech engine. Actually, if it's possible, I think it would
be nice if the new models could also serve as a speech synthesizer while
connected to a computer.

Yeah, I think as it matures it wil be a really great product. The only
thing I was dissapointed with was the speech still being double talk but hey
it's not that big a deal I guess.

Once they get overdrive and NLS, I'll probably get the ii. Most of the
other stuff is just candy, but once they have a big break like that, I'm all
for candy. That new slim shape, and the missing beltclip are a big
improvement. I still like the speaker, and rechargability is good.

But how long will APH support Bookport 1? I understood that they would do
so as long as they had the parts. Am I correct here?

I'm not so down. Am disapointed they won't have overdrive at first. Will
wait till they do; otherwise it's too much like what I already have.
Consolation for Suzanne.
I'm staying openminded on the batteries. The speach isn't a big issue. I
may still prefer external speakers, but it will be nice not to have to mess
with headphones when I want to check something quick.
I was a lot more impressed with the icon braille than I had expected.
Let's all wait till the real thing comes out and some of the bugs are worked
out before becoming supercritics.

Well, I listened to main minue last night on a c b radio and I was
singularly disappointed. We will still have that same old speech program
and, really not much more. Yes a stereo mike and the ability to change the
recording settings but, I herd nothing about a line in jack.
The charging set up will be different but I really don't see that as an
improvement. With book port one you can get some rechargeable double ayes
and just change them when you need to. With the new one you half to by a
proprietary battery from the printing house or leave your computer on while
the unit charges. Yes one can plug it in to an a c outlet but, if your in an
airport that is out of the question.
Did I get the wrong impression or is the new one upgradeable just like
the old one or what.
Think I will just limp along with my old one and wait for book port
three.
