Well, after hearing last night's show, maybe I'm glad I got it now. Since the BP 1 is already a well-designed machine, it sounds like the 2 isn't really going to be that much better. I'm not so down. Am disapointed they won't have overdrive at first. Will wait till they do; otherwise it's too much like what I already have. Consolation for Suzanne. I'm staying openminded on the batteries. The speach isn't a big issue. I may still prefer external speakers, but it will be nice not to have to mess with headphones when I want to check something quick. I was a lot more impressed with the icon braille than I had expected. Let's all wait till the real thing comes out and some of the bugs are worked out before becoming supercritics. ----- Original Message ----- From: Phil <mailto:philparr@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Parr To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2007 3:20 AM Subject: [bookport] I wasn't impressed. Well, I listened to main minue last night on a c b radio and I was singularly disappointed. We will still have that same old speech program and, really not much more. Yes a stereo mike and the ability to change the recording settings but, I herd nothing about a line in jack. The charging set up will be different but I really don't see that as an improvement. With book port one you can get some rechargeable double ayes and just change them when you need to. With the new one you half to by a proprietary battery from the printing house or leave your computer on while the unit charges. Yes one can plug it in to an a c outlet but, if your in an airport that is out of the question. Did I get the wrong impression or is the new one upgradeable just like the old one or what. Think I will just limp along with my old one and wait for book port three. Phil Parr.
