Noticed it, too, and I hope Bookshare doesn't get sucked into being a chrome-dependent platform. Chrome's invasive use of personal data it collects and sends to Google's advertising arm as part of its inherent design is an ongoing privacy concern. Madeleine's post says we will have more alternatives in terms of what browsers the new features work on, so I'm good with waiting for the new features until they work on other browsers.
As to whether Chrome is more secure and stable than Firefox or Opera, for example - meh. Not really. Depends on who you talk to in the geek community on any one day. Any one of those browsers is better than Internet Explorer. though! grin. Chrome alternates between being the #1 or the #2 browser in the world, depending on the month, so I get why you'd want to make sure that features work with it first if you're developing new web applications.
