The walking with confidence I already do. As to keys, I don't do this all
the time, but certainly when I'm coming home late, I do.

I've also thought about carrying mace, but have never gotten around to it.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] OT: self-defense

A long time ago, on one of the magazine programs like 60 minutes, they had a
section on how to avoid being attacked, and that was one of the things to
they stressed, especially for elderly or women--to walk confidently and with
an air of self-assureance -- and hold your keys in your hand with one key
between two fingers pointed outward, so you can jab someone in the eyes if
necessary.
