When I was sixteen, and traveling with my first dog in San Francisco and Berkeley, I used to carry a pair of brass knuckles with a knife attached. I only had to open the blade once, but that was a very scary night. That's when I took my one and only self-defense class. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Robert Riddle Sent: Tuesday, December 05, 2006 6:09 AM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: OT: self-defense When I was living on the streets, I had at least 6 knives on my person. I had 1 on my belt, 1 in each boot, one in my jacket pocket, one up under my armpit and another strapped to my inner wrist in a spring clutch.. Now that I'm not carrying everything I own on my back, I went back down to 2 blades, on my belt and in my belt pack. I've only had to use a blade once, and I won't go into that here. I take protection very seriously and was trained in the martial arts and wrestling. I refuse to use force unless it's absolutely necessary, which, as I said, has only happened once. Word gets around on the streets and I guess the guy I met spread the word around that you don't f&&& with the blind guy over on this side of town. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lora" <loravara@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, December 05, 2006 4:01 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: OT: self-defense > The walking with confidence I already do.
