No I didn't listen to it. I must have missed that one.

When I got my Pac Mate and laptop, a product was installed on both machines
called Active Sync which automatically transfers the most recent files from
a given folder to the other machine. In other words, if you modified a file

with the laptop, that version would be transfered to the Pac Mate, and vice
versa. But I was told when I asked that Active Sync is not part of XP, but
was a separate Microsoft product. You might want to Google it and see what
it costs. It talks perfectly with JAWS, if that is what you have, but once
you do the initial setup, it is automatic and just starts up when you plug
the computers together with a USB cable. Since Active Sync is a Microsoft
product, I don't think it was designed specifically for the Pac Mate, so I
think it should work with a desktop and laptop combo. I could be totally
wrong, of course, and even if it does, there may be less expensive products
that will do the same thing.

You disorganized? Didn't you listen to that podcast created by Monica
Willyard about how to get organized? <grin> It was a great talk, btw.

Hi Monica,
I think Windows has some sort of built in facility that helps with this

type of file management. I've had my laptop for a while now, but confess
that I have done very little reading on the subject. I often use the
laptop for note taking and I always create new files rather than add to
old ones.

I have done a little bit of reading on it though. Check out some of the
O'Reilly titles dealing with Windows XP for ideas. I know I read something

in one of them on this.

Later,
Jake

I have been given a laptop for my birthday. It was a complete surprise!
For those of you who validate using 2 computers, how do you manage your
files so that the most current is always available for you to work on? I
guess I'm asking you how you keep your work organized so that you don't
waste time trying to figure out which version of which file you have and
where the file is located. Now that I have a laptop, I can actually work
on validation during the day, when I'm waiting at the doctor's office, or
even outside on my porch swing. I've never had freedom like this. I like

that a lot. (grin) My desktop computer is in my bedroom, and I was
limited by needing to work in there. Now I have a lot more flexibility,
and yet I need to find a good way to keep my work organized. I know
myself well enough to know that the potential for chaos is just around the

corner if I don't stay on the ball. Thanks for any help you all can
offer.
