I do believe that was me with that report, Dean. Not sure who was at the other end, (Bernie?) on the south rim, but it made a very clearly defined and very, very bright circle of green about 10 to 12' in diameter on the wall of the North Rim Lodge above me. I reciprocated with a red laser pointer, used, and now prohibited in college classes, and was told it was also clearly visible. Without something solid or uniform to project upon, trees being the only backdrop, a circle diameter was not determined at the south rim to my knowledge. When the green beam swept above us, I could not see the beam, but I could easily locate the source on the other rim. At first I thought, "Amazing!" Then, I thought of what might happen if the laser light was caught by a telescope observing, oh, say, Omega Centauri, (which is visible from the north for longer than the south). I think that would be a bad thing. Especially if it was someone new to the hobby. Once again, I vote we curtail the random laser wars in favor of either none at all, or a more controlled, prearranged "test", if you will. I will not be taking part, either way.
