This afternoon's forecast discussion for the extended period (early next
week) says:

"BOTH THE GFS AND ECMWF INDICATE THE MONSOON HIGH...CURRENTLY OVER CENTRAL
TEXAS...MAY BEGIN PUSHING NORTHWARD...TRYING TO FIND ITS USUAL SUMMER HOME
UPWARDS THE FOUR CORNERS REGION.

LOTS COULD HAPPEN BETWEEN NOW AND THEN...BUT SHOULD THE HIGH TAKE SUCH A
POSITION...THE RESULT WOULD BE A MORE MOIST SOUTHERLY FLOW...POSSIBLY
OPENING THE GATES FOR THE ARIZONA SUMMER CONVECTIVE SEASON TO GET UNDER WAY.

HOWEVER...SHOULD THE WEST COAST LOW CUT OFF FURTHER EAST OVER AZ...OR
REMAIN AN OPEN WAVE ALONG THE WEST COAST...WE WOULD EXPECT CONTINUED BELOW
NORMAL TEMPS...BREEZY TO LOCALLY WINDY CONDITIONS OUT WEST...AND PERIODS OF
MAINLY HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS RIGHT /IN OTHER WORDS...MORE OF THE SAME"

So the chances of the typically clearest month in Arizona being clear at
all are looking slim. We may proceed from Spring high cloudiness into
Summer monsoon humidity without a break. If it's any consolation, the past
week centered on Full Moon has been cloudy.

Tom
