Flagstaff got its typical two-week stretch of clear, summer weather during the first half of May. Then the clouds and rain came. The last half of May featured typical monsoonal activity; clear in the morning, followed by increasing cloudiness and afternoon thundestorms. June hasn't seen as much rain but the clouds and cool weather have been constant. In all but name only, the summer monsoon started almost a month ago. LOTS COULD HAPPEN BETWEEN NOW AND THEN...BUT SHOULD THE HIGH TAKE SUCH A OSITION...THE RESULT WOULD BE A MORE MOIST SOUTHERLY FLOW...POSSIBLY PENING THE GATES FOR THE ARIZONA SUMMER CONVECTIVE SEASON TO GET UNDER WAY. HOWEVER...SHOULD THE WEST COAST LOW CUT OFF FURTHER EAST OVER AZ...OR EMAIN AN OPEN WAVE ALONG THE WEST COAST...WE WOULD EXPECT CONTINUED BELOW ORMAL TEMPS...BREEZY TO LOCALLY WINDY CONDITIONS OUT WEST...AND PERIODS OF AINLY HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS RIGHT /IN OTHER WORDS...MORE OF THE SAME" o the chances of the typically clearest month in Arizona being clear at ll are looking slim. We may proceed from Spring high cloudiness into ummer monsoon humid ity without a break. If it's any consolation, the past eek centered on Full Moon has been cloudy.
