I will be out that way but am meeting my youngest Son's soon to be In-laws
for the engagement announcement (I hope her Daddy knows ;-) I'll be sure to
direct a little nod and smile toward the Dodder's tonight. I would think
that it would be "first light" for you in the "Second Life" of the Bino
Chair. You all have a great time. See everyone at Thunderbird...

Light for the recently refurbished by Steve, Pierre Schwaar Bino Chair! or
I guess that would be 2nd light huh? Anyway that is always a guaranteed
good time. Maybe we'll see you there?

Hi Jennifer,

Your point is understood and well taken. It is just as sad that that the
Forest Rangers I use to come across have gone from carrying just a smile and
a badge to Beretta's and in some cases M-16's. Nothing is going to stop me
from adventuring out or enjoying getting together under the stars in the
middle of nowhere but our world has certainly changed a tad since I first
started venturing out when I was 12...(fear? Hang gliding, climbing in
Yosemite, sky diving, diving with sharks, and flying a fully acrobatic
ultralight pretty much says no... Preparedness and awareness of my
environment, Yes) but I can except all of humanities varying viewpoints and
I like yours as well...

So back to what this is really all about... Is anyone getting out there
tonight???

Jimmy Ray

It's a shame your fears kept you from observing especially after driving all
that way. I've observed/camped/hiked alone on public lands quite often with
enjoyment of the solitude and also lovely opportunities of sharing the
experience with passing strangers that soon become friends. On the other
hand daily life in the city is chock full of threatening exposed strangers
on cell phones who may or may not be "Cocked and Locked" with their "little
friends" but they certainly can't prevent me from taking full-tilt
advantage of city life while I'm in it even if I don't have a "little
friend" to leave home without.

Thanks Stan. Fortunately I wouldn't think a truck driver as much of a
threat. It was interesting that he stopped his truck about a quarter mile
down the road and walked back, thus leaving himself rather exposed. I drove
past him at one point and he seemed more interested in my license plate than
anything else. With all the shell casings I saw laying around and the fact
the mailbox at the stop sign was shot up, I'm sure the ranchers have issues
with vandals, etc. and are leery of strangers. As for me, like my American
Express card, there is another "little friend" I never leave home without. I
was "Cocked and Locked" the whole time.

Jimmy,
If you are reading this it means you got back okay. It would worry me to
be all alone and to have a complete stanger talking in a cell phone
looking at me all the time.

something). If no one here by 1830 I'm heading back.
