I use Win 2000. You will definitely want a USB 2.0 card. It is cheap ($10 to $15). Mine has a connection that runs tot he USB 1.0 port for the DC power. You could also use a powered USB hub. One advantage of the hub us you could use a longer cable. Tiger Direct http://www.tigerdirect.com/ has the cards or even Fry's electronics.
