I think they are minimum recommendations. I'm not too worried about processor speed, but I don't have USB 2.0 and don't have XP either. My laptop would work, but it would be slow going. I've had my laptop so long I don't remember/can't find the specs on it. If I could just buy a 2.0 card that would be great. In the field I always use a converter. If I CCD'ed from home I wouldn't have to worry about power, I could just use ac like the article suggests. It would be a long way to my PC tho. :-) Jack > I use a Dell Latitude 750 MHz unit.
