I am one who uses tests like this on new
applicants. They help me learn about the
person, not just their writing. I get a
better idea if they will likely fit into
our culture by how they react to being
given a "mickey mouse" exercise. The more
easy-going they are about it, the better
they get on with others. I also look at
what they write and have been surprised
by the flair of some writers under test=20
conditions.

I've hired great people and others that
I've later regretted. My determining
factor now is to go with my
"gut instincts" and these annoying
little tests tell me a lot about who they
are, not just what they present themselves
to be.

Yep, sure, but I get so offended at this kind of 'testing' that my
responses are always a 'test' for them. If they don't 'get it' I don't
want the job.=3D20=3D20

Here's a new business for unemployed technical writers - creating and
selling downloadable test answers, small manuals etc suitable for job
tests and interviews - for a fee of course.=3D20=3D20

...my point being - who knows who has written and edited what? How many
of you have taken beautiful manuals to interviews that were designed,
written or edited by someone else?
