Petra consider the logic of Socrates; sufficiency and necessity.
Here are three statements in connection with the CAGW dogma.
1. Increasing concentration of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide will
cause temperatures to increase globally until a “tipping point’ is reached
in which case temperature will be out of control.
2. Since the turn of the century, the proportion of CO2 in air has
increased some 10 to 15 % to 0.040%, or 400 PPM.
3. For the last 17 to 23 years, there has been no significant
increase in temperatures globally, and in fact some decline since 2006.
On the validity of statement one hangs the entire mantra of the CAGW
religion. The only possible mechanism for “human induced climate change” is
temperature, and the only connection temperature has with human inducement
is CO2. So when this statement is invalid, the entire religious dogma falls
flat on its face. Statement one in fact is merely conjecture. It has no
evidence to support it.
Statement 2 is data; the only rational element in science. One could be
sceptical of the data to some extent, in that it is determined on Mona Loa,
on an island surrounded by volcanic activity. The wild variations in the
data make it difficult to derive a single figure, however, it is widely
accepted that this is the current measurement. Much todo has been made of
this “milestone”. It is indeed too bad that no one seems to question what
the climate was like 3 million years ago when CO2 was before in this
proportion. Geology tells us that the Piacenzian Age was similar to today.
In fact, geology also tells us that there have been periods in which this
figure was an order of magnitude greater, when the world was a snowball.
Statement 3 is also data. Even the IPCC political organisation concedes
that there has been no significant warming for 17 years. This is due to the
data from Hadcrut3 and Hadcrut 4. If one considers the more accurate
satellite data from RSS and UAH, there have been 23 years of no significant
warming.
All three of these statements cannot exist as truths simultaneously in the
same Universe. The logic of Socrates demonstrates that one must be false.
Statements 2 and 3 are hard data. Statement 1 is conjecture. Which do you
think is false?
