I saw that bug is still unconfirmed. In my experience it needs someone with editbugs permissions who reproduces and confirms the bug to get the ball rolling, otherwise it will persist forever and a day.

The easiest way to test whether a certain display profile has been applied or not is to use a really weird one. You can extract for example the profile embedded in <http://color.org/Lower_Left.jpg> (from <http://color.org/version4html.xalter>) and assign it as display profile. Every application that actually uses it will display colors with permuted channels (GBR instead of RGB).
