but my experience is that FOIA was written to make it appear
The government is being transparent, but really isnt.
1) You have to pay for the gathering of the data you are requesting, which
is often cost-prohibitive
2) The government has 30 or 60 days to respond;
3) The response is delayed as close to the deadline as possible;
4) The response usually says how you screwed up and must fix your request
for them to act, an estimate
of the cost, and include language about not being able to respond because
the info you request
is a privileged, sealed, state secret, and/or national security issue.
And then you get to chase your tail trying to comply with all the
government agencies
requirements for you to get the information you seek.
And then you end up having to go to court, to enforce your FOIA
with no guarantee of the desired outcome or getting the info you wanted.
In my humble opinion, it is simply a Progressive grind you out process
until you give up and go away.
