Steve, how do you know that you are behind a good router though. That's my point really. I don't know because I'm not technically savvy, so I just leave well alone and draw some comfort from the knowledge that I've done all I can to protect myself. See what I mean?

Hi Jackie, I don't think there is anything superior about my knowledge, but it is a contentious issue all over the web. From what I have read in the past, I don't think you need any longer worry about software firewals if you are behind a good, and I stress, good NAT router. Routers, particularly Linksys, have excellent firewalls, so there is no point in hogging resources with Windows Firewall, unless you are not behind your router. Software firewalls just hog resources, and if you are behind a hardware router, you don't need it.
