Just quoting from Microsoft's own advice on the matter.
Their original Firewall is not brilliant, and only one way,
but it does plug the incoming holes sufficient to let you
Update the system.  The sad thing is the MS didn't have the
courage to turn it on by default, something they have
rectified in SP2.=20
