Hi Paul and Steve,
You are quite right, that nut has to be loosened to remove, this is part of
the plug. You require an 11mm tube spanner, telescope the aerial down, bring
it out straight at the rear of the radio, slip the tube spanner over the
aerial down onto the nut, this will reveal the socket, I believe this is the
socket that is on many Set-top boxes.  Remember  to tighten nut when
replacing the internal aerial, or it won't remain upright.
