Hi Alex

I don't think it's very clear-cut is it? I kind of get the impression from friends who have gone down the Vodafone route that it depends on what store you go into, and who serves you.

when I upgraded to the N70 at vodafone, they would only give me the N70 and
nothing else. I used the Chester shop, and according to the people there,
the only fone they would give me was their recommended one alone. Perhaps
the situation has changed since I got mine.

Hi Chris

Perhaps I've come in late on this one as I've been busy. But my
understanding is that, provided you buy the phone from a Vodafone store,
they will install the standard version of TALKS onto it for you, whether it
is a contract or Pay-As-You-Go tariff. I didn't think it mattered what
model as long as it supports TALKS, and provided you buy it from them.

Hi all,
I'm helping my girlfriend out into the possibility of getting a new phone
after she's experiencing problems with her current phone (Nokia N73) and
almost had it stolen whilst she was on the train back to RNC in Hereford.
She's looking into getting a phone directly from Vodafone, unlocked, and
maybe even have Talks freely installed for her. From the brief research
I've done, Vodafone do three "speaking phones" (Nokia 6680, Nokia 9300 and
Nokia N70), however they also said that they can convert a compatible
phone
into a "speaking phone", but only at certain stores, correct? If so, then
I
discovered that one of the stores in Manchester may be able to help her
out. I say Manchester as: 1) Hereford wasn't listed as a "speaking phone
store locator" and 2) Manchester is closest to her home in Bolton. If this
is the case, how much will the conversion cost? There was no price on the
website so I assume it's free or at least a small amount? Also, Does
anyone
know of any Third Edition phones out there that is a flip top phone, has a
good keypad, has a good battery life, and other good features? She's
thinking of getting an E65, but if anyone has any other suggestions, that
would be greatly appreciated. many thanks in advance for the fairly urgent
help in this matter, and I look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes,
Chris.
