>>>The fact that you can see the home network proves beyond question that the NIC is functioning correctly. The problem of not being able to connect to the Internet from that machine has to be somewhere else. Is this machine the gateway machine, or do you have a router? Ron<<< Thanks. I suspect the problem lies in me not understanding things (e.g. what you just asked me! ;-) I have a PairGain MegaBit 600F (DSL) Modem and have to input a Gateway number when I set up. But it is not the number of any of my own computers, which have to have their own separate IP addresses. I have had to specify IP addresses. The local tech support helped me and I was one of their early customers so we figured it out together. Once, there was a conflict with one of their company's IP addresses, but I am not getting that error message this time. I can get to the modem page and it says I am connected but Internet Explorer won't open any other pages. That means I am not reaching anything beyond my walls, right? I tried changing my IP address but to no avail. I tried resetting the modem. Nada. I guess I will call the DSL provider now that I know my equipment is operating fine. I'll have to wait until Monday, but at least I can use my printer although I can't DLD the newer drivers. Thanks so much... I do not know how to reply on the same thread from digest or the archives so I have to start a new thread each time, sorry. Kit --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?
