Both the web install and the downloadable installer  behave the same. I
have turned everything else off for the install, including AV software and

reports that the install "went off without a hitch" and one problem that
doesn't appear, at least, to be the same as mine.

Windows XP Pro, all other updates installed, P3 1GHz, 256MB RAM.

Ron! I do not know if this will help or if you have seen it already, but this page is the most informative on a solution or alternative for you. The update is not necessary but as usual M$ has recommended it unless there is a reason not to download it.

It is cumulative so EVEN though you did not have SP1 installed SP2 would work just fine. I personally have never installed the .NET run time so this is all new to me.
