We are looking to change the naming conventions that we use for PCs. Right now we name them with the department name and a number (ex: for our Accounting Dept- acct4, acct5, etc.). It was recommended to us that we should change our naming convention for security reasons. I wanted to know what convention others are using.

At work we have a device ID number sticker on each computer that is (for PCs) D and 6 digits issued in sequence. The computer name is the same as the device ID. BTW, things other than PCs have other letters (I can't remember what off hand).

What's keeping you from getting more from your terminal servers? Did you know, in
most cases, CPU Utilization IS NOT the single biggest constraint to scaling up?!
Get this free white paper to understand the real constraints & how to overcome
them. SAVE MONEY by scaling-up rather than buying more servers.
