Dude.. You have a kegerator AND a wife that pours?? Why do you ever leave the house???? -----Original Message----- From: Greg Reese [mailto:GReese@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2004 4:51 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Re: OT: Home Audio device I have a keg cooler in my game room. Usually for a ball game we just fill pitchers. Actually the wife fills the pitchers (and makes snacks, sandwiches etc) Greg -----Original Message----- From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jensen, Douglas Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2004 4:37 PM To: 'windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [windows2000] Re: OT: Home Audio device Go with Dish Network and their PVR. Cheaper than cable. Just think, You can pause the game, go get a beer, come back and pick up where you left off and then skip the commercial and catch back up to the game. I'm still irritated I had to break down and get cable because the reception sucks where I live. So these things record TV shows. I have a VCR that does the same thing. And I can catch anything in re-runs anyway. All I generally watch is sports though. Football, NASCAR, hockey (go Lightning!). I'm pretty convinced the cable company is getting to be as bad as the phone company in their attempts to rip me off. I already cut them off. I would love to get rid of the cable too. BEST THING I could have EVER gotten! It's amazing. All for a mere $4 a month... Don't know how I ever lived without it. And the menu's are quite intuitive, since it's made by the same company that made the plain old digital box I had prior (Scientific Atlanta). It holds 50 hours of video, and it automatically begins recording as soon as you tune in to a program. So, say you watch half of a movie, then you have to leave the house, you hit record, and when you come back, you have the whole movie, not just the back half of it. You can program it to record episodes of a show, or a one time recording, set expiration dates on the recordings, and even individually password protect the movies (useful if you have kids and record R or NR movies). If TiVo does the same stuff, I'm with Ray on this one.. GOTTA HAVE IT!! -----Original Message----- From: Ray at work [mailto:listray@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2004 4:53 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Re: OT: Home Audio device I've been through all the different "build your own TiVo" experiments on my own, and while I'm the type of person who would much rather build my own everything, nothing can compare with a TiVo. When I sit my ass down to watch TV, I don't want to shut down the computer part of my brain, and there is no "do it yourself" TiVo-wannabe solution that allows for that, 100%. Some do come close, however...
