I believe what you mean is IMAP is faster than RPC. This is probably true since the amount and type of data that is passing the wire is smaller. But this is like comparing apples to oranges. IMAP is a really simple protocol and thus has feature limitations compared to RPC. By the way, Exchange can do IMAP as well. -----Original Message----- From: Nail, Larry [mailto:lnail@xxxxxx] Sent: Friday, November 15, 2002 10:44 AM To: 'windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [windows2000] Re: Mail server software & it does IMAP which is faster than exchange for email. -----Original Message----- From: SewardAdmin [mailto:mwm@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, November 15, 2002 9:01 AM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Re: Mail server software Another thought! Take one of your spare computers, spare ip, and Install RedHat- SendMail - add accounts. Sure the setup/installation might be a drag, but once setup - it pretty much runs itself, and you don't have to pay the hefty fees$. Plus - it integrates with W2K very well.
