I guess what I was trying to get across, is that with Sendmail, you can get
IMAP as well and though it's not got the same capabilities as Exchange, it
does give you a server based mail store and it does it well.  We routinely
tell our customers to use an IMAP client across dialup links against
Exchange to speed things up so to speak.  Ever try to use Outlook across a
dialup... Pretty much sucks.

I believe what you mean is IMAP is faster than RPC.  This is probably true
since the amount and type of data that is passing the wire is smaller.  But
this is like comparing apples to oranges.  IMAP is a really simple protocol
and thus has feature limitations compared to RPC.  By the way, Exchange can
do IMAP as well.

Another thought!

Take one of your spare computers, spare ip, and Install RedHat-  SendMail -
add accounts. Sure the setup/installation might be a drag, but once setup -
it pretty much runs itself, and you don't have to pay the hefty fees$.  Plus
- it integrates with W2K very well.
