Kevin. To know what is loaded on a track, press control windows 1 - 4. This will tell you what VST, synth etc you have loaded into slot 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the current track. A good tip would be to name the track with the loaded synths name, e.g, "Independence-piano", then you wouldn't have to do that. Pressing any of these keystrokes actually opens that VST.

To look at all FX loaded on a track, go into Jaws mode with F9 and up/down arrow to all loaded effects on that track. Press F9 again to close.
To hear the summary of a track, press control windows enter. This will speak the status of all controls and the name of any selected object.

When you insert Independence on a track and the plug opens, you can be in 1 of 2 views...the plugin view or the parameter view.
The plugin view is the native UI, meaning the interface for the actual VST.
When you are in the parameter view, this is a list of any accessible parameters that loaded VST offers.

Now in order to load instruments in Independence, when the plug has opened, you need to be in the plugin view, you do this by pressing alt+l and entering on "plugin". Alternatively, do the same to switch to the parameter view.
At this point, the HSC set should load and you should be able to press alt+shift+L to open a menu. In this menu you can arrow down to all of Independence's categories to choose an instrument.

After entering on one, it should load and you should be able to play it. If, for example you had chosen pianos, then you can press control dash and control equals to move to the next and previous piano in that category.
if you want to load another instrument from another category, then you must repeat the alt+shift+L keystroke and choose another instrument. HTH Steve.

JPR,

Following up on MIDI IN stuff, I seem to be able to record Ivory and Magix instruments other than Independence just fine. I simply can’t seem to get Independence to instantiate correctly. Which brings me to a question I have asked before. CTRL Windows M is supposed to give you the overview of a track’s status. But this command doesn’t tell you whether there is a VST instantiated on a given track. What command tells you that. Also, Assuming you choose Independence and bring up the Plugin window,, at least I think that’s it, what is the command to get you to the load menu. Currently, I do this by hand because, even when I choose an instrument from the Effects menu, I get to this plugin menu that requires me to choose a patch again and I can only do that by manipulating the mouse by hand with vision. That’s clearly wrong.

JPR,
Checking Alt R twice did solve the problem for tracks that don’t have Independence on them. No idea why my default template defaults to Transport as the first option checked by default. I’ll have to screw with that. Still working on getting any sound out of Independence. More later.

Hi Kevin,

In the VIP Window, choose a MIDI track and press alt are twice, then review all the settings, especially MIDI inputs to see which one is checked. then, press alt am twice and do the same for MIDI outputs if no virtual synth is on the track?

Cheers,

JPR

Following up. I pulled up a project that worked a few days ago and it still works. I can play MIDi and I can make the project play by pressing play on my Transport. So, I have no idea what is wrong with any of my default templates. Still hoping for help.

Guys,

I’ve determined that I've somehow lost MIDi connectivity, I/O in Samplitude Pro X3 Suite. No idea how. As far as I know, I have the right MIDi options checked. If anyone plans to be around TT today, let me know so I can check off other options.

Thanks,
Kevin
