Steve,
I think there are times when the script does not execute completely. Perhaps,
something hangs up and visual result is as I describe. It doesn't always
happen. Just like there are times when ALT shift L doesn't always open load
dialog can plug-in window

Kevin, the script is manipulating Samplitude in the way you are experiencing.
In the VIP we see a maximized track, showing all of its controls. When
up/down arrowing, the script is minimizing and remaximizing to go to the next
track. There is a reason and I think you're getting conflicted from what you
can see and what you want to be spoken. Samplitude Access is a screenreader
solution, so some things that happen on screen may not seem logical or pretty
to the eye, but it is supposed to be this way. Steve.

Steve,
Before I forget, sometimes out of the blue, I will find myself in a situation
where up and down arrows no longer move me up and down tracks. Instead, it
will change the situation on the display so that Samplitude changes from
occupying the whole screen to occupying a portion of the screen either to the
left or to the right. Depending on whether I have Preston up or down arrow
button. Eventualy, things will come back around to the point where Samplitude
occupies the entire screen again. I think I can correct this by choosing
maximize in the menu to the left of the file menu. More on all this when I
get back home.

Kevin, try this for me please.
Insert independence on say track 1.
Then, press alt I to open the track options for that track.
Now tabbing along to the midi section, you should hear what plug is being
used, what device is being used and what channel that device is using...and
you can change them if you wish.
Does this information in this dialog give you what you need?

Steve,
I'm changing it in the Independence plugin Window immediately to the right
of Bypass and below the loaded patch.
BTW, CTRL WIN 1 reports the presence of patches more reliably.

Steve,
I”ve chosen simple but the routing still has to be adjusted, “by hand.” No
big deal. I can do it. Just important to know.
If you’re around over the weekend, we can discuss it then.
Best,
Kevin

Kevin you shouldn't have to do that. What ever you're looking at, you
should be able to have spoken. What midi assignment are you reading?
I recommend using Independence as just 1 track per instance, until the
multi instance is understood. When you insert Independence, the routing
dialog should open, select "simple" here and enter on OK.
By doing this, whatever track you've put it on will play that sound only.
If you're still struglling, we'll take a look over the weekend. steve.

Okay. Problem solved, or at least better understood. On tracks other
than 1, the MIDi channel, I’m not sure whether it’s IN or Out, is set to
something other than the corresponding expected number. For example, in
the case where I wanted to put a guitar on channel 2, the MIDI channel
was 8. In the case where I wanted something on track 3, the corresponding
MIDi channel was 1. Remember that I’m pretty sure that the strings patch
I put on that actually worked was on track 1 and was probably on channel
1. In the drum case, there was no sound that I could find. Although, I
later found that this particular drum kit occupied a surprisingly low
range of the MIDi keyboard. So, may have missed it. The only way I
knew about the bogus MIDi assignment was to look at it with my eyes and
manipulate with a mouse by hand.
Anyway, at least I’m getting somewhere.

Kevin. To know what is loaded on a track, press control windows 1 - 4.
This will tell you what VST, synth etc you have loaded into slot 1, 2, 3
and 4 on the current track. A good tip would be to name the track with
the loaded synths name, e.g, "Independence-piano", then you wouldn't
have to do that. Pressing any of these keystrokes actually opens that
VST.
To look at all FX loaded on a track, go into Jaws mode with F9 and
up/down arrow to all loaded effects on that track. Press F9 again to
close.
To hear the summary of a track, press control windows enter. This will
speak the status of all controls and the name of any selected object.
When you insert Independence on a track and the plug opens, you can be
in 1 of 2 views...the plugin view or the parameter view.
The plugin view is the native UI, meaning the interface for the actual
VST.
When you are in the parameter view, this is a list of any accessible
parameters that loaded VST offers.
Now in order to load instruments in Independence, when the plug has
opened, you need to be in the plugin view, you do this by pressing alt+l
and entering on "plugin". Alternatively, do the same to switch to the
parameter view.
At this point, the HSC set should load and you should be able to press
alt+shift+L to open a menu. In this menu you can arrow down to all of
Independence's categories to choose an instrument.
After entering on one, it should load and you should be able to play it.
If, for example you had chosen pianos, then you can press control dash
and control equals to move to the next and previous piano in that
category.
if you want to load another instrument from another category, then you
must repeat the alt+shift+L keystroke and choose another instrument. HTH
Steve.

JPR,
Following up on MIDI IN stuff, I seem to be able to record Ivory and
Magix instruments other than Independence just fine. I simply can’t
seem to get Independence to instantiate correctly. Which brings me to a
question I have asked before. CTRL Windows M is supposed to give you
the overview of a track’s status. But this command doesn’t tell you
whether there is a VST instantiated on a given track. What command
tells you that. Also, Assuming you choose Independence and bring up the
Plugin window,, at least I think that’s it, what is the command to get
you to the load menu. Currently, I do this by hand because, even when I
choose an instrument from the Effects menu, I get to this plugin menu
that requires me to choose a patch again and I can only do that by
manipulating the mouse by hand with vision. That’s clearly wrong.

Checking Alt R twice did solve the problem for tracks that don’t have

Transport as the first option checked by default. I’ll have to screw
with that. Still working on getting any sound out of Independence.
More later.

let me know so I can check off other options.
