In the VIP Window, choose a MIDI track and press alt are twice, then
review all the settings, especially MIDI inputs to see which one is
checked. then, press alt am twice and do the same for MIDI outputs if no
virtual synth is on the track?

Following up. I pulled up a project that worked a few days ago and it still
works. I can play MIDi and I can make the project play by pressing play on my
Transport. So, I have no idea what is wrong with any of my default templates.
