hi Eleanor and lads

thanks for the offer of a tech support Eleanor but i think i would be waisting valuable time for others who need it more than me. i also have a girlfriend and other friends near by who have full sighted assistance if i need it. but thanks again for the suggestion. and to answer your question Paul i uninstalled ie9 because the same problem was happening with it and i remember you saying a while back that ie 9 was known for its problems with jaws.i will do a full scan of the computer now a and see if anything comes up but i dont think so. i did a quick scan and nothing turned up already. i was also on to eircom today and they could not help me all i did was reset the modem and nothing. the funny thing here as well Paul and floor is that on my girlfriends computer yahoo.ie is not working either. I will keep fighting on and see if i can come up with anything else. Paul if anytime you want to go tandem you just let me know but i will let you know i have not done this before. many thanks to all.

regards

Vincent

That would be no problem Eleanor but I know Vincent is quite tech savvy
himself and might prefer to use all this as a learning experience
frustrating as it is but sure there is no problem in having a trainer visit
him.

Paul.

Paul
How about an NCBI trainer going out to Vincent. I appreciate this is
entirely up to Vincent but I can't help thinking that sighted assistance
here could be beneficial not that all you guys aren't doing a brilliant job
with advice and support.

Hi Vincent,

Flor has a point, why did you remove IE9, were you having problems with
it.
I think there must be more wide ranging problems on your computer Vincent,
such as maybe spyware, viruses etc, make sure that you give your computer
a
good going over and also check all your broadband settings to ensure they
are correct.

Paul.

does not give an option for no add on's
it does have manage add on's which i did some playing around in here and
still nothing. and there is no added on toolbars. something i did notice
but

dont know if its relevant or not is when the page is loading up the
percentages stop. if i arrow up or down it brings up a list of web sites
visited but these sites are ones i visited a long time ago well about 4
weeks ago. how is this even though i have deleted my history on a few
occasions

Vincent,

Here are some further ideas that may assist. Either in the file menu or
in

the tools menu of IE - alt-t - you will find Internet Explorer, no
add-ons. Press enter on that, do some Web browsing now, and see if you
still have the same problems. the toolbars submenu in the Internet
Explorer view submenu. Some of them may be enabled, others disabled. You
want to disable any non-internet Explorer toolbars, which you may do in
the tools menu by locating them in the toolbars there, pressing enter on
one, and then tabbing over to disable and pressing enter. (You can then
remove disabled toolbars from your computer, if they're not associated
with running programs.

Hi Vincent,

You can download Security Essentials direct from the link below;

http://ninite.com/essentials/ninite.exe%, 33%, and stops counting up
but if i press the arrow up or down it starts calling out other web
sites i was on as if back in the address bar. i dont know what's going
on here.

Hi Vincent,

You mentioned avast there, if it's the latest Avast 7 which comes in
uninvited then I think you should remove it in favour of using
Microsoft
Security Essentials instead. Avast 7 for the most part is no longer
all
that
accessible. Some folk say they can make it accessible by removing the
"self
healing module" that is built into Avast but it doesn't go far enough
to
give easy accessibility. Also it puts an "Add-in" into IE and this
could
be
what is happening on your system so again I would suggest removing
Avast.

Paul.

that yahoo. ie is not working same problem and when i tried yahoo.ie
on my

eircom
problem. or super anti spyware or avast? will i ring eircom or can
you
advise anymore. many thanks.

Hi Vincent,

Try this;

1. Go into control panel.
2. Go into Internet Options.
3. Use keys, "Control + Tab" to jump down to the "Advanced page".
4. Tab over about 3 or 4 times to the "Reset button" and press the
spacebar.
You will be asked if you are sure you want to go ahead with this as
it
involves resetting your entire IE settings back to factory defaults
so
to speak so answer "Yes or OK".
Note: It will also ask if you wish to remove your personal settings
to
which you also answer "Yes or OK", if it's a checkbox just check it
whichever applies.
Once it has completed choose close or OK to finish off then try
loading up IE again and for the first time you will have to go
through
setting up IE8 from scratch so be prepared for that, its not a big
deal but just so you'll know it has to be done.

Paul.

Hi Vincent,

Make sure that you also go into control panel then internet options
and delete temp files such as history and other things then go to
ok
and close out of control panel. Now try reloading the pages again.

Paul.
