Hi Vincent,If you press ctrl h when in Internet Explorer, do you hear "history closed"? Have you done any other windows updates lately? (or, aare there any waiting for you in the system Tray?) What is your home page? Now, before I go to yahoo.ie and let you know how it is with me, and I do not have a yahoo.ie account but do have a yahoo.com one, do you have a yahoo.ie account. It opens ok for me, and, one I get the password kerfufle sorted, i should be able to access my yahoo.com - such as it is. My experience with people using IE9, although i am not, is that the problem they have are due to the bigger presence of the information bar, and the difference it makes in the ordinary downloading of files process there. It was possible to do a repair of Internet Explorer (although now you need to uninstall it to do that, in current versions). however, I'm not sure what will happen if you try that, seeing as you've downgraded from internet Explorer 9 and are in Windows Seven. Are any Web sites working ok for you and, if so, give us an example of such! One could mention Firefox as an alternative, except that if you already have that, you must now upgrade to (at least) version 11 of it. Did you install Windows Safari recently? (it has been known to cause some problems, more so if not removed properly.)----- Original Message ----- From: "Vincent stack" <vts@xxxxxxxxxx>To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, April 23, 2012 8:47 PM Subject: [vip_students] Re: web page problems againhi Eleanor and ladsthanks for the offer of a tech support Eleanor but i think i would be waisting valuable time for others who need it more than me. i also have a girlfriend and other friends near by who have full sighted assistance if i need it. but thanks again for the suggestion. and to answer your question Paul i uninstalled ie9 because the same problem was happening with it and i remember you saying a while back that ie 9 was known for its problems with jaws.i will do a full scan of the computer now a and see if anything comes up but i dont think so. i did a quick scan and nothing turned up already. i was also on to eircom today and they could not help me all i did was reset the modem and nothing. the funny thing here as well Paul and floor is that on my girlfriends computer yahoo.ie is not working either. I will keep fighting on and see if i can come up with anything else. Either in the file menu orinthe tools menu of IE - alt-t - you will find Internet Explorer, no add-ons. Press enter on that, do some Web browsing now, and see if you still have the same problems. the toolbars submenu in the InternetExplorer view submenu. Some of them may be enabled, others disabled. You want to disable any non-internet Explorer toolbars, which you may do in the tools menu by locating them in the toolbars there, pressing enter on one, and then tabbing over to disable and pressing enter. (You can thenremove disabled toolbars from your computer, if they're not associated with running programs.----- Original Message ----- From: "Vincent stack" <vts@xxxxxxxxxx>To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2012 4:23 PM Subject: [vip_students] Re: web page problems againhi Paul just tried the guidedogs.org.uk again and the same but if i press insertand b it calls out guidedogs uk and starts calling out some stuff like competition Philips TV and Cassidy travel, my account bing. i have heardthis stuff a few times on my computer but dont know where its comingfrom. is this bing something to do with it, is bing something to do withtoolbars or something. i have checked for toolbars installed but dont seeany? regards Vincent --------------------------------------------------From: "Vincent stack" <vts@xxxxxxxxxx>Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2012 4:10 PM To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [vip_students] Re: web page problems againhi Paulok uninstalled avast and installed Microsoft security essentials. andstill the same i then uninstalled super anti spyware just to see if thatdone any thing and nothing still the same.what's happening is i go to say www.yahoo.ie and it starts loading upslowly say 1% 7%, 20 Vincent -------------------------------------------------- From: "Support At NCBI" <support@xxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2012 12:47 PM To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [vip_students] Re: web page problems againHi Vincent, You can download Security Essentials direct from the link below;http://ninite.com/essentials/ninite.exe%, 33%, and stops counting upbut if i press the arrow up or down it starts calling out other websites i was on as if back in the address bar. i dont know what's goingon here.regardsPaul. -----Original Message----- From: vip_students-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx[mailto:vip_students-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Vincent stackSent: 22 April 2012 11:49 To: vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vip_students] Re: web page problems again hi Paul i will try that so but whats the story with MicrosoftSecurity Essentials. am i write in saying its on my system all readyordo i have to load it on. many thanks. regards Vincent -------------------------------------------------- From: "Support At NCBI" <support@xxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2012 11:42 AM To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [vip_students] Re: web page problems againHi Vincent,You mentioned avast there, if it's the latest Avast 7 which comes inuninvited then I think you should remove it in favour of using MicrosoftSecurity Essentials instead. Avast 7 for the most part is no longerall thataccessible. Some folk say they can make it accessible by removing the"selfhealing module" that is built into Avast but it doesn't go far enoughto give easy accessibility. Also it puts an "Add-in" into IE and this could be what is happening on your system so again I would suggest removing Avast. Go into control panel. 2. Go into Internet Options. 3. Use keys, "Control + Tab" to jump down to the "Advanced page".4. Tab over about 3 or 4 times to the "Reset button" and press thespacebar. You will be asked if you are sure you want to go ahead with this asitinvolves resetting your entire IE settings back to factory defaultsso to speak so answer "Yes or OK".Note: It will also ask if you wish to remove your personal settingstowhich you also answer "Yes or OK", if it's a checkbox just check itwhichever applies. Once it has completed choose close or OK to finish off then try loading up IE again and for the first time you will have to go throughsetting up IE8 from scratch so be prepared for that, its not a bigdeal but just so you'll know it has to be done.
