Hi Susan,
It sounds like you may have inadvertently switched on the scroll lock.
Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find a clear description of where to find this
key on the keyboard.
If anyone can help with that part, I think that may be the issue.

It sounds to me like your excel has crashed!
My suggestion would be to exit out of excel altogether for a little while.
If you cannot do that, then I would suggest re-booting your Desk Top. Over!
Hopefully, you haven't a lot of info to lose!

Press escape to break out of the cell in case you are in edit mode.
Escape should de-activate the cell. Then arrow around to be sure you are out
of it.
