This means that the column is too narrow and so all the contents cannot be
shown on the screen.
To change it, highlight the entire column by pressing control+spacebar.
Press the application key and then press "w" until you hear "Column Width"
or something similar. Press enter and you may see that it says "8" - this is
the default column width in numbers of characters to display. Type a
suitable width for the widest data the column contains. About 25 would be
good if you are only showing values or dates. Text field might need you to
put in as much as 60. Press enter to close the dialog and you should now see
all the data in the widest cell. Also, the annoying prompts should have
disappeared!

Hi folks,
I'm sure it's a simple thing and easy sorted, the thing is when working in
excel just lately in certain cells it's saying cropped, well I think that's
what it's saying, it's also saying overflowing, how can I get rid of this?
