In WI are you specifying your metaframe servers by IP or FQDN? If you're using FQDN, try switching it to IP. Does WI resolve your application set 100% of the time when you log in? When you notice that launch.ica has an incorrect IP, try to ping the Citrix server from that client by FQDN, NetBIOS name and IP to see what your results are. If you disable that NIC facing the DB (can you?) all works fine 100% of the time? Sounds like you've pretty much tried everything, but just to confirm. I'd also make sure the connection with the gateway configured is the one that is showing up in the TCP/IP -> Properties general page... Other than that, wow... -----Original Message----- From: Friese, Casey A. You have only one gateway configured, and static routes assigned for the other network? This is the recommended setup according to this document, even pre-Win2k3. -----Original Message----- From: Friese, Casey A. To be honest, I haven't had any stability/reliability issues in such a setup. I've done this on both Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 servers. I agree with Andrew, though... if you've got something spare, use it instead. It's better practice overall. /Ryan -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Rogers [mailto:Andrew.Rogers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, July 30, 2004 12:06 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: No route to Specified Subnet Address I'm not sure if theres particular security problems, it just seems, well, just plain wrong to me! Do you not have any other spare, underutilised servers that could run IIS? I really dont think you'll get far with the dual homing :) At least, noone on here (that I remember!) has come back with a success story.. Andrew --o-- >>> CAFriese@xxxxxxxxxxxx 30/07/04 16:50:22 >>> LMAO, I might be mad! What are the reasons for not running WI/IIS on the same box as citrix? Load? Security? - if Security, is it plausible to run on the same box if all access to the WI is done only from internal? If load, does it really matter since I have more than 1 server load sharing in my farm? I'm just trying to get some answers because if I go to my boss and request a new server he's going to want the reasoning for having to dig in his pockets some more after having already given his arm and leg for Citrix - the stuff's not cheap!. I've read some dual-homing nightmares myself. Unfortunately my hands are tied in this respect because our network guys thought it more sensible to not have traffic competing on the same NICs. Some of our apps talk to back end oracle DB's so our Citrix servers listen on one NIC and the other NIC shares a common network with the DB servers -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Rogers [mailto:Andrew.Rogers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, July 30, 2004 10:32 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: No route to Specified Subnet Address Dual homing citrix servers is one thing that comes up from time to time.. its generally very ill advised as you've found! :) I dont think theres any real support for it in either TS or Citrix from what I remember, the answer will be split WI and Citrix to two boxes :( (IIS and Citrix on the same box, are you mad?? :) ) Andrew --o-- >>> CAFriese@xxxxxxxxxxxx 30/07/04 16:07:16 >>> OK - I think I may have found the answer. My Citrix server/WI server is dual homed. I have my ica-tcp connections configured to listen for connection on only one of those cards. I've noticed that, at time, when I create ica's and I go in to take a look at them with notepad, that the wrong IP address has been put in - the one from the other card in the server. Sometimes creating an ica gets the correct IP, other times not. Not sure if this is a bug in 3.0 or what?!? It's really annoying also, when creating an ica that it uses an IP instead of the machine name - wondering if there's anyway to change that? So, I think my WI is actually trying to call the connections through the wrong IP. I'll have to set my ica-tcp configuration to listen on both cards but that's really counter-productive to what we are trying to accomplish. It's worth a try though. -----Original Message----- From: Parker, Dennis [mailto:Dennis.Parker@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, July 29, 2004 1:24 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: No route to Specified Subnet Address Many things could be going wrong here. I'm going to shoot some troubleshooting ideas at you as there really isn't enough information to tell what the problem really is. 1. Are the DEV and Production servers on the same subnet? Can you ping the IP address you believe you should be connecting to from the workstation you are connecting from? 2. Open a command prompt before clicking on the application icon and prepare a 'netstat -n' command. Click on the icon and quickly switch back to the command prompt and execute the 'netstat -n' command. See what IP address you are attempting to connect to. Make sure it is what you expect to be connecting to. 3. Do a trace route to the IP address? 4. Probably not an issue, but make sure that CSG and/or translation of the Citrix address isn't a problem. If these don't help, shoot more info out and maybe we can help. When click the icon, I get "No route to the specified subnet address" I can successfully launch the app from my dev Citrix server, but not production.
