The point of DLU (I think) is to displace the need for Active Directory
anything. You use NDS (eDirectory) instead. The Citrix farm could just
be in a simple Windows workgroup vs. Active Directory tree. The roaming
profile controlled by Zenworks can be stored in the users Novell home
directory or any networked drive accessible by the user. There is no
need for creating the user in the local SAM as it is done by DLU on the
fly.
I haven't attempted to run a mixed Novell/Zenworks and Microsoft AD
environment so I can't really speak to how or if it works. I suspect you
would need a tool like DirXML or Metadirectory services to sync up the 2
directory services otherwise you would have to manually sync user ID's
and passwords (unrealistic with real security and real users). Anyone
on the list done this? I wouldn't mind hearing about your experiences.

Ok, thaks for your response, but if i use DLU user volatile, can i use
roaming profile and mantain working the farm such as Windows 2000 =
Active
Directory integration? The roaming profiles can be read from a share =
whitout
users in local SAM?

Thanks

The DLU (Dynamic LOCAL users) feature in Zenworks will only create
local users not domain or AD users. You would need something to
synchronize AD and NDS ahem eDirectory. Novell has a product called
DirXML that can do NDS->Active Directory sync. Microsoft has called
Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) that can sync Active
Directory->NDS. I haven't used either product. MMS last time I
checked
was only available to Microsoft Consulting. That might have changed in
Windows Server 2003 though. Has anyone on the list used either of
these to integrate these 2 directories?
=20
You can mark the DLU user volatile so it is removed on logout. This
way
you don't get the profile directory copied 4 times in the case of your
farm.=20

>>> dsanchez@xxxxxxxxx 6/19/2003 12:25:30 PM >>>

Now, i'm installing a metaframe xp farm with:
+ Novell Netware 6 (150 clients)
+ Novell client 4.83 SP2. (The only i work with it stable.)
+ 4 server MTF XP 1.0 SP2/FR2 (Can't anyone works with FR3 in a Novell
enviroment?) The 4 servers works in workgroup
+ Using Zenworks 4 for DLU policy
+ Zenworks policy for roaming profile. I reported problems storing =3D
profiles
in netware share.
+ I use Neoware eon 6300 (XPe) and Capio Thin clients and works fine.
=3D
Access
to Metaframe with Nfuse (Web Interface)
+ I use various USB devices in thin clients: external hard disk, =3D
external
usb cd-rw, external floppy disk drive. (works fine)
=3D20

I have some problems that i no have idea so get a solution:
The users are created 4 times (1 per server) in local SAM.?????

Thanks.

1) I should have clarified, our users are primarily WAN users. No =3D
local
Novell client installed. Additionally we are using CSG. We are on a
=3D
6.30
client primarily.

2) We changed the terminal server profile path and home directory to =
=3D
point
to an NT share. Essentially the Netware environment is kept off of
the
terminal servers except for a few pieces like mapped drives, printer =
=3D
shares,
and an SSO app.=3D20
