Give them the bad check back, sit the box in the corner to gather dust 
until they pay a cash deposit of 50% of your estimate. That is if you 
have plenty of other work, If not you can redeposit the check to see if 
it will clear the second time, also you can take the check to the bank 
and ask if it is covered.
