This trip sounds like it was fun but had some odd and maybe not-so-great
moments. I don't mean to dwell on the negative, but here is a little
psychedelic song to commemorate some of the interesting scenes you guys have
mentioned:

Picture yourself at a launch on a playa
With butt-naked bikers and marmalade skies
Some “burner” calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes

Cellophane rockets of yellow and green
Flyin’ right over your head
Look for the dude with his schlong hanging out
And he's gone

Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Aaaaahhhhh...

Load up your bird on the pad with the remote
Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies
Everyone smiles as you clip the igniters
And get an unpleasant surprise

Flag-dragging dirt-bags appear at the pond
Hoping that you’ll go away
Give them a loud scary piece of your mind
And they're gone

Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Aaaaahhhhh...

I've only been to Black Rock during the last 3 XPRS events, which is
typically ~2 weeks after burning man. I never saw any burners at/near our
camps, they're probably 'burned out' by that point. =) It's a much larger
group of RVs/people too, so that might be a bit more intimidating to an
outsider than a small launch. - Will

Ah, OK. I really don't want to deal with this when I'm out there, with the
kids or by myself.

Is this crap going on at BR all the time now? That's too bad if it is.

I think there's an annual event on the playa on ~4 July called "Fourth
of Ju-Playa" if I remember the name correctly. (Not as big as "Burning
Man", but same general style and crowd.)
