Well if you want an interesting postulate consider what happens not to a 
line that crosses the moat, but to a line that gets too close to an edge 
that runs parallel to the traces that cross over the island.  Do you think 
there is going to be lots and lots of flux along that edge?  Do you think 
there will be a gradient close to that edge?  Now I wonder is Lee does!
