I passed the Novice exam in 1963 at 12 and was WN2EYC. Two years later I got
my General as WB2UYM which I used throughout university. Then my work as an
advertising and fashion photog with a studio on 19th St in NYC took up all my
time. I passed the Am Extra class test in 1989 and got AA2CV. When I moved to
Barbados in 1993 I became 8P6FF as well.
***My first exposure to Ham Radion came at the home of "Casey" Steckle who was
both a ship board radio op and an official in the maritime radio union. I was
hooked as soon as I heard both the CW signals and AM chat. A few years later
my father brought me on board a ship and I watched the radio op listening to
code with one earphone while typing at something well over 40 WPM while holding
a coherent conversation with me, answering my questions about his equipment.
Talk about multitasking!!!
Two years until I get my 55 year gold pin from QCWA!
CHEERS!
