Do you not have a icon for IE on the desktop or even the Quick Launch piece
of the task bar?  If not you may want to put one there, if you know how to.

Also when you are surfing the net and want to open a link in another window,
right click the link and then chose the "OPEN IN NEW WINDOW" option
