You have to SET cleanup to work the way you want. it has options.. I think most clean up programs are like that.. they don't know what you do and don't want..YOU have to make the choice... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Spotta" <chris@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, August 17, 2005 9:24 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: spyware - NewDotNet I downloaded CleanUp a few months ago after hearing about it on this list. It certainly cleaned stuff up - and a lot of stuff that I wanted too (I did an image of my OS before running it, so I was able to get things back) - I believe the default settings are a bit too aggressive and wouldn't recommend using it unless you can read through all the options and UNDERSTAND what they all do. Re. spyware/not spyware I believe ad-aware and spybot both to be very good at not giving false positives, and if they say it's spyware it's normally fine to remove it. Also, both programs allow you to undo and place back the item removed in its original location, hence the reason I recommend them both. If I get a machine in infested with spyware badly, as you say yours is Then what I have told you to do is exactly what I would do. It might not fix all your problems but we will work on them afterwards, but it should remove a lot of junk and get your computer booting up and running a lot better in order to remove the stubborn ones and fix the remaining problems Chris callto://spotta/ chris@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.spotta.com -----Original Message-----e From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of milady Sent: 17 August 2005 16:00 To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: spyware - NewDotNet Do you have CleanUP??? I use at least twice a day..it gets rid of lots of stuff including everything in Prefetch. Nother thing...I don't know what those things are you posted but are you SURE they are spyware???some things SAY things are and it's just their opinion.. We are being told so much stuff is spyware because with all that is out there paranoia is rampant..Everylittle thing we jump at. Maybe we don't NEED to...if you haven't YET, try some homework on google. Research whatever is bothering you. see what the story is.. ???? ml ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cris" <cris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, August 17, 2005 5:19 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- spyware - NewDotNet Please read the entire email for my problems!
