I just did a search on the MS knowledge base and apparently many other have the "mysterious tilde file" as well, and I am glad to know MS is aware of this and is working on it. It appears irregularly, often in relation to OE and changes in the address book, but not always, according to that site. Some folks get it who never ever touch OE! And others don't get it no matter what they do in OE.
