CK mentioned that there's a bug after installing one of the MS patches, and what you're describing is probably that. YOu may want to make sure you're up-to-date with all the patches at the Windows Update site. If, howeverm there is something installed on your desktop, you would see it immediately, as it would be there as a non-shortcut and would start an app. Now that I think about it, its probably not it cause you would see the installation files on your desktop, thereby cluttering your system. But, you may have programs that when you use them the settings or options are telling it to use the desktop as the location for temporary files. Check what CK said first, cause that could very well be the problem. ---Troth ----- Original Message ----- From: Liz Zoob To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, August 30, 2003 1:16 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: odd icon on desktop Thanks, Troth. <<chances are you have something "installed" on your desktop, which shouldn't be.>> Any idea how to find this out? I looked in my Desktop folder, and there were no applications that I could see.
