What Cards you ruunning with and also what sort of switch or hub?  If any of it 
is only running at 10mbs, then it will be very slow, and you should look at 
upgrading to a 10/100 mb system.  Then your transfer speeds will be much faster

  the folder on a to be shared, but I did have to make the destination folder
  on b shared.
