Hi Geekette, Now you mention it, I had the same thing some weeks back. I had to use the startup disk and my speed was not right. Trouble is I can't find anywhere what the optimum speed for my cpu is... I have an Athlon XP 1.5. Any suggestion on where to find this info? As you are booting, check to make sure your system is running at the correct speed. I installed a new motherboard and chipset and had to change the multipliers in the bios. When I booted up a week ago, they were reset to the wrong speed. . . .how or why I don't know, but I changed them back and am now "up to speed" again. last > time I ran these maintenance programs.
