Judith--yes, there is something, I think it's called a 'power box'.  I have
one I bought over 10 years ago, it's on my computer at work.  That monitor
sits on top of the box, but my monitor at home is much bigger and I don't
think it would fit.  But they are probably made bigger now, too.  Now that
you mention it, my cords at work aren't nearly the mess they are here at
home.  I have a 'switch box' for my printers too, and I think you would look
in the same place in the catalog for both items, like maybe assessories

 just one cord goes down to a surge protector in the wall outlet.  It seems
to me this unit is something the monitor sits on.
