When using the CD burner, is it necesary to close down all things like Nortons Anti virus, Webshots, Spam killers , Web Cam and things like that ?? Lionel. It's traditionally been good practise to close down as much as you can when burning....Mind you, this dates back to when you were using small amounts of RAM and low specced processors, and burning speeds like we see today and things like 'Burnproof' writing was unheard of. My first burner was a 4 speeder on a Cyrix 300 processor with 128mb of RAM-If I tried to open anything while it was trying to burn, I ended up with a nice shiny drinks coaster!! Technology has moved on now, both in the reliability/speed of the CD Writer and the higher specifications of modern PC's, so you don't normally have to go to such lengths as closing down your AV or firewall while burning. Modern writers have big enough buffers so that any slight interruption in the flow of data wouldn't be noticeable, and the 'Burnproof' feature would kick in if any major bottleneck appeared, but it's still good practise not to do anything else with the PC while doing the burn, especially when burning an audio disc.
