I'm sorry but I didn't see your response until this a.m. Okay I'm challenged here and that's nothing new :-) I think I understand your response to the second question (and if not I'll holler when the time comes) So as to the first one, I had this long list of explanations of why I couldn't find the properties but then found it by accident :-) I also mispoke about the full size of the hard drive as is only 200 gig. Under usage tab - 7% used, 93% free Under partition info tab - partition type 07 [hex] NTFS serial number - and it lists one (you don't need this right?} First physical sectior: 63 (Cyl 0, Hd 1, Sect 1) Last physical sector: 199,302,389 (Cyl 1205, Hd 254, Sect 3) Total physical sectors: 199,302,326 (97,316.6) Physical geometry: 24792 cyls, 255 hds, 63 sect Under NTFS info tab - NTFS version 3.1 Bytes per NTFS sectors - 512 (512 per physical sector) Cluster size - 4K bytes (8 sectors per byte) First MFT cluster - 786,432 File record size - 1 K byte It also says it's my primary where the other half that is black is my logical. For the comparison I did the same for the other external that worked fine and Im not spotting any difference - hope the info I typed gives you a clue - I'm wondering if I shouldn't just take the data off and repartition it and see what happens - good idea?
