As far as I know, no. I have my informal opinion, which I
have stated, using a 720p display: no difference between
1080i -> 720p done using a Samsung box, a Motorola box, or
the Panny TV itself.
Of course, a 720p -> 1080i conversion might be a different
matter seen on a true 1080i TV.
