The one thing that I always appreciated about Apples over PCs is the
control over hardware and drivers to make a more stable system. Who cares
what processor or other hardware it is running on, if the system is stable
because the hardware is fixed and more consistent, Apple will retain it's
customers.

Apple will lose customers if they do not maintain compatibility in every
respect. I know because I was a die-hard Mac user until they alienated me
with OS-X. True, it does run legacy software in emulation, but at the time
no one could prove it to me, and software was not available to replace what
I was using on OS 8.6. Today I know that I could have run it but it is too
late. I'm on a PC now.

However, I might go back to Mac if the hardware and software is right when
I purchase a new system. But it doesn't really matter if it is on Intel or
not. As long as it works as good as past Macs have.
